Last week, the Bahamas Financial Services Board (BFSB) released the names of the finalists for the [2009 Financial Services Student of the Year](https://bfsb-bahamas.com/news.php?cmd=view&id=2846&pre=y) award. Respective Selection Teams from the College of the Bahamas and BFSB have evaluated the nominees, according to set criteria involving academic performance, business and economy-relevant acumen, college and community involvement – and a written submission.

The initiative has been a joint venture of BFSB, the College of the Bahamas (COB), and the Central Bank of the Bahamas since 2002 – with support from the Professional Industry Association Working Group (PIAWG). Nominees are selected from the Graduating Class at the COB for the current year.

The 2009 Student of the Year will be announced at the 2009 Industry Excellence Awards Ceremony on October 22nd at the Sandals Royal Bahamian Hotel & Spa.

BFSB is pleased to profile the five (5) finalists over the coming days. Today we feature **Jamere M. McIntosh, BBA – Economics and Finance**

##FINALIST-FINANCIAL SERVICES STUDENT OF THE YEAR 2009##

A 2005 Graduate of St. Georges’ High School in Grand Bahama, Jamere obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration in Economics and Finance this year. He also received the College of the Bahamas President’s Award 2009, its School of Business Award 2009, and the Livingston Evans Memorial Award for Economics & Finance. He was on the Dean’s List for 2005, 2006 and 2007, and on the President’s List for 2005 and 2006. In 2007, he received the National Pacesetters Award for Education from the Ministry of Education, Youth, Sports & Culture.

While at the COB Jamere was active in the National Society of Leadership and Success, serving as Vice President and President; the Economic Society, serving as Secretary; and Circle K. He has been active in the Toastmasters Club 969479 from January of this year.

He plans to pursue an MBA in Economics.
