Mr. Keith Davies has been appointed as new Chief Executive Officer of the Bahamas International Securities Exchange (BISX).

A release from BISX Chairman Ian D. Fair points out that Mr. Davies, who has been serving in the capacity of Acting CEO, originally joined the Exchange as Chief Legal and Compliance Officer – and contributed greatly to the launch of the Exchange on May 12, 2000. Since that time, the new CEO has garnered a substantial depth of knowledge in the development of capital markets in The Bahamas. *”If The Bahamas is going to truly diversify as a country and realise its real potential, our capital markets need to be active and sustained contributors to its growth. I intend to do all that I can to move BISX through this critical juncture and guide it to become the dominate player it was envisioned to be,”* says Mr. Davies.

BISX was incorporated as a private company and is owned by its shareholders – comprising stockbrokers, banks, investment companies, pension funds, mutual fund administrators, corporations, and individuals. It is formally registered with the Securities Commission of The Bahamas as a “Securities Exchange”, and as such is vested with the authority and responsibility to regulate its Members and Listed Companies in accordance with BISX Rules. The organisational structure has been designed to ensure that BISX has both a commercial and a regulatory focus.
