The Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) recently introduced a scholarship programme for Bahamian students wishing to enroll in the STEP Diploma Programme. This is part of the organisation’s objective of ensuring that the financial services industry acquires skill levels that exceed that of its competitors.

The scholarship will be awarded based on academic merit, employment, field of study, and financial need. The SDP consists of four subjects: Trust Creation Law and Practice; Company Law and Practice; Trust Administration and Accounts; and Trust Investment and Financial Appraisal. The Diploma courses, which begin at nine-month intervals, are not sequential, and can be studied in any order. All candidates must have completed the STEP Foundation Course, or have been given the appropriate exemption.
